Hansson leaps to win this aerial duel.

Hansson leaps to win this aerial duel.

Full-time: Joy for Sweden though they did make hard work of the three points and face rampant Spain next. Greece look a pale shadow of the 2004 champions and some fresh blood is needed.

90 - Attack: Sub Amantidis breaks down the right but his low cross bounces too easily off Samaras and any shooting opportunity is gone.

89 - Bemusing: Greece continue to play the ball around at the back and someone needs to tell them they are 2-0 down.

88 - Attack: Torosidis races into the area, skips past a lame Hansson challenge but shoots at Isaksson from a tight angle.

86 - Hurry-up: Isaksson is told to get on with it by the referee who obviously doesn't want to hang around longer than absolutely necessary.

84 - Penalised: The labouring Samaras is pulled up for foul on Mellberg and so far Greece have managed just five attempts on goal.

82 - Off-target: Rosenberg wins a free kick with a clever turn 25 yards from goal. Larsson directs proceedings and his curling effort is a staggering six yards wide.

80 - Limited: The Swedish fans are singing but the game is dying here with Greece not looking to have a plan B if they concede first.

77 - Hobbling: After extensive strapping around his left hamstring, Wilhelmsson hobbles down the touchline to the dressing-room but his championship could be over.

75 - Injury: Wilhelmsson sprints down the right and then pulls up in agony and slumps on the touchline. Swedes bring on Marjus Rosenberg.

74 - Sub: Fredrik Storr comes on for Alexandersson.

72 - GOAL! It's two-nil and the contrast in goals is stunning. Nikopolidis is not interested in punching away a high ball and a determined Hansson shins the ball over line from a yard with Greek defenders doing very little.

71 - Hero: Goal hero Ibrahimovic is replaced by Elmander.

70 - Change: Defender Dellas comes off and Amantidis is on as the Greeks go on the offensive.

69 - Confidence: It's now coursing through the Swedish veins and what can the Greeks come back with now?

67 - GOAL! It needed a piece of magic to break open the Greek defence and Ibrahimovic provides it. He takes a short lay-off from Larsson and drills a right-foot shot arrow-like into the top corner from the edge of the area.

65 - Agony: Decidiing the Greeks are unlikely to score, Hansson tries to help them out by heading past his own keeper but it skids inches wide of an embarrassing own goal.

64 - Piledriver: Nilsson cuts in from the left and fires a 30-yard angled drive well over the bar.

63 - Break: Karagounis, beginning to venture further forward, picks up the ball 30 yards from goal and tries to lob the stranded keeper but it hits Hansson on the chest.

62 - Yellow: A third yellow card as Torosidis upends Wilhelmsson.

61 - Progress: Greece are creeping a shade further upfield and win a free kick on the left. Karagounis whips it in and Isaksson catches safely.

59 - Shot: I'm calling it a shot from Katsouranis but it came from 40 yards and hit a defender on the shins outside the penalty box before being cleared.

56 - Counter: Both sides trying to play on the counter but the passing is woeful and the breaks fizzle out.

54 - Set-piece: Greece have a free kick in Swedish territory and throw men forward for the dead-ball but Mellberg heads away for corner. The flag-kick comes to nothing.

53 - Disappointing: Ibrahimovic takes charge of the free kick 30 yards from goal but his shot flicks off the wall and goes for a corner.

52 - Booking: Seitaridis is the second player cautioned for a cynical trip on Ljungberg.

51 - Lonely: Samaras' arrival has not meant a stronger Greek attack as Charisteas is dropping back into midfield.

48 - Chance: Wilhelmsson is found in hectares of space on the right as the Greeks push out and as keeper Nikopolidis rushes out to meet him, the Swede lobs him but misses an open goal.

46 - Storm: It's hotting up off the pitch if not on it as the match restarts after a mini-thunderstorm. Greece also bring on striker Giorgios Samaras for the ineffective Gekas for the second half.

Rubbish: That's the view of Frank Stollberg, who adds it's probably one of the worst games ever.

Half-time: This is a match that is living down to its expectations! Do you think the next 45 minutes will be any better?

45+1 - Surge: Wilhelmsson, who has been quite lively, slips past Seitaridis and his chipped cross is just too high for the run of Ibrahimovic.

45 - Effort: Basinas suddenly wakes from his slumbers and fires in a swerving 25-yard shot that Isaksson has to parry to safety.

44 - Stalemate: Yes that word's out now as Greece play the ball around at the back and Sweden are not that interested in chasing to get it back.

42 - Bent double: Ibrahimovic never needs a second invitation to hit the deck and this time he takes a blow in the most painful of places!

40 - Keep-ball: Greeks are playing keep-ball among the back five again and the fans, probably mainly the Swedish ones, are jeering loudly.

39 - Deflection: An involuntary back-heel by Wilhelmsson sends Charisteas whizzing into the area but his cross is too near Isaksson.

37 - Quality: Wilhelmsson raids down the left, slips it inside to Larsson who sells a wonderful dummy but now doesn't have the pace to fire off the shot and Kyrgiakos has time to recover.

34 - Counter: Greece break quickly and force a corner but Basinas' flag-kick is dealt with comfortably.

33 - Header: Ibrahimovic is inches away from putting Sweden ahead with a flick header that loops over the advancing keeper but floats over the bar.

32 - Threat: Ibrahimovic is always the Swedish target when the ball goes into the box and his very presence is causing problems.

30 - Elated: Greek coach Otto Rehhagel is ecstatic as his side win a throw. Small mercies.

28 - Scrappy: This word was going to be used sometime tonight and the time has arrived! Stalemate is the next word in the firing line.

25 - Hesitation: Hansson dawdles as the ball bounces in front of him in the box and Charisteas sniffs a half-chance but Nilsson helps his defensive partner out. Michael Antonczak thinks Russia can qualify alongside Spain in this group and the two in action now are bearing that out.

22 - Rarity: That's a Greek attack but for once Basinas finds Karagouins in space out on the left only for his cross to hit the first man.

20 - Ouch: Ljungberg is pole-axed leaping against Dellas and Kyrgiakos but it's an indication that Swedes are forcing the issue. Oh and Freddie's back on his feet.

17 - Flag-waving: At last the Greeks are opened up at the back but the flag is up for offside anyway against Wilhelmsson who shoots into the keeper's midriff.

16 - Dominant: Swedes have the majority of possession but as yet no end product. If it was England, Sweden would surely have scored by now!

13 - Slow: Greece are spending an age passing the ball across the back-line with Sweden in no real hurry to hustle to get it back.

11 - Sizzler: The high ball is causing problems for the Greeks and a tame defensive header is volleyed back spectacularly by Svensson but it's just too high.

9 - Bypass: Swedes opt again to try the 50-yard air ball to Larsson rather than play through midfield.

7 - Mazy: Brilliant dribble from Charisteas who shimmies past two defenders cutting in from the right before scuffing a left-foot shot straight at Isaksson.

5 - Aerial threat: Sweden prepared to throw balls into the box for the two strikers and Greece have their work cut out.

2 - Booking: Barely a minute on the watch and there's a booking for Charisteas for a two-footed lunge.

1 - Long ball: The match is under way in dry conditions and the Swedes look long for Ibrahimovic right from the start.

Old news: Dillon Naidoo wonders if the pensioners on the field will last 90 minutes?

Star quality: Is it me or can these sides form an XI who competed in the Championship, Dellas at Sheffield United, Nilsson at Southampton etc? What do you think?

Silence: Kevin in Montreal is hoping for an early Sweden goal to quieten the local Greek population who like to watch the match to the accompaniment of blaring car horns.

Pre-match: A positive array of old faces on view here with Greece boasting a batch of their Euro 2004 heroes, Seitaridis, Dellas, Charisteas, Basinas and Karagounis and their opponents fielding a side that must have an average age approaching 43! Will this be a tournament too far for Freddie Ljungberg and Henrik Larsson? E-mail us your views.
